Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday’s (September 3) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.

Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan) staged an unexpected return to Hollyoaks, with the final scene of the latest episode seemingly confirming him to be Morgan’s kidnapper.

The popular character, as viewers know, was last seen late last year when he made a number of sporadic appearances as part of a storyline that saw mainstay Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) go missing.

It turned out that Darren had been staying with Charlie at his uni accommodation.

The Osbornes have been central to the show over the past few months following Frankie’s (Isabelle Smith) grooming ordeal at the hands of Grace Black (Tamara Wall) and Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey).

Tragedy stuck earlier this week when Morgan disappeared.

Frankie had been tasked with looking after her little sister but, after following Jacob (Ethaniel Davy) to the shop with his wallet, she returned to Basswood Road to find the place in a state with no trace of Morgan, who had been kidnapped.

Nancy (Jessica Fox) was devastated by what transpired, as was Darren, who was adamant that Clare Devine (Gemma Bissix) was somehow involved in the crime, prompting him to take her prisoner in a shipping container in the hopes of getting to the bottom of what happened to his daughter.

Clare, however, professed her innocence.

Back home, Nancy received a text message – presumably from the blackmailer – who demanded a large sum of cash in exchange for Morgan’s safe return, urging her to keep the police out of the matter.

As to whether or not Nancy and Darren agree to such terms remains to be seen but the episode concluded with Charlie in the company of missing Morgan, implying that he was the one who took her.

Just what is Charlie up to? And why has he put his loved ones through such an ordeal?

Charlie Behan, who played the character between 2011 and 2024, reprised his role for the scenes in question, but just how long is Charlie back on our screens for? And how will Nancy and Darren react when they find out the truth?

That remains to be seen but next week Frankie receives a message from Charlie. Will she work what has transpired?
