Something really small set me off today and I didn’t expect it. I feel like I’ve gone backwards. Does anyone else get that overwhelming rush even when they thought they were fine?

Yes, I’ve definitely had moments like that. It’s such a horrible feeling when something small suddenly brings everything crashing in, especially when you thought you were okay.

It doesn’t mean you’ve gone backwards, it’s just your nervous system reacting in a way it’s learned to. Healing isn’t a straight line, and moments like this don’t erase the progress you’ve made.

You’re not alone in feeling overwhelmed like that. It can be really hard, but it will pass again.

Indeed,I can relate to this so well.

Please don't be hard on yourself on top of how awful being triggered makes you feel...

Your brain and nervous system are probably still on high alert...

But it does not mean you have gone backwards.

No matter what, you are a Survivor.
